When gender equality takes flight: On Veterans Day, celebrate female military pilots

The screenshots show up frequently in female pilots’ Facebook groups: snarky, demeaning responses to celebratory posts from women marking aviation milestones. Woman hired to fly for an airline? “Another empty kitchen.” Superimposed over a photo of female Air Force pilots in their flight suits: “Why do women make great pilots? Because there are no curbs in the sky.” Kudos for the first Black female flyer to log some amazing (and long overdue) achievement? You don’t want to know the kind of racist, in addition to sexist, vitriol those elicit.
