NYC, get more homeless kids in school

Children living in homeless shelters almost always have a hard time getting to school. For many, poor attendance was a challenge long before they entered shelter. For others, becoming homeless created new hurdles to attending class. Homeless students regularly miss class because they haven’t been added to a bus route, are registered at the wrong school, or because they and their parents are simply overwhelmed, and getting the kids to school every day is just another crushing burden.
